Fantasy Week 8: Trick or treat
This will be another quick look at potential fantasy selections probably just missing the early kick off between the Lions @ Chiefs at Wembley. I have had a horrid few weeks in Fantasy terms, last week only winning one of my match ups, thankfully in the Quidditch league. Currently the Gents are not doing so well in the two main leagues, currently 7th and 10th. So here I am going to have a quick look who you might want to pick up and start. Not too many major teams on byes this week, Jags, Bills, Washington and Eagles.
I am going to start with kickers, because with the Lions @ Chiefs likely to be gritty, it is likely to end in field goals. Cairo Santos of the Chiefs is available in 80% of leagues and has a few 50 yard plus goals, if your scoring system favours such things. He is probably a better bet than the Lions’ Matt Prater.
Other possible picks for the early kick off is Theo Riddick if Joique Bell does not play. I think he is a better bet to get carries and targets in screen plays than Abdullah. I have just found Cardinals RB Andre Ellington available on the waiver wire. Yes Chris Johnson is currently the lead running back but all the signs are that Ellington’s work load will be increasing this week so if he is there, snaffle him (as I have done) and he could make quite a handy stand in at some point.
With wide receivers, one name jumps out, especially if you are missing Allen Hurns or Robinson. Tavon Austin of the Rams is up against a very poor 49ers team and he is currently a top 25 fantasy wide out. He is available in nearly 80% of leagues, and his match up is favourable so I would take him and start him. The Bengals’ Marvin Jones is available in 79% of leagues and could make a tidy flex position as the Steelers cover AJ Green. He has only 3 TDs so far but some of those are from tough match ups.
Every week I am sure I mention Eric Ebron and I think he is worth picking up and starting today. He is the 10th top scoring TE and is reasonably consistent though never really scoring high. Stafford will need him if the Lions are to notch up their second win of the season. Because of one big week against the Falcons, Ben Watson is the 12th top fantasy tight end. Scored 5.9 points last week, if you need a tight end (i.e. in place of Jordan Reed) then he might get about 6 points today against the Giants.
Players I think to start on top of the few mentioned:
Gerg Olsen (well duh) TE
Delanie Walker, TE
Chris Johnson, RB
Danny Woodhead, RB
Todd Gurley, RB
Khiry Robinson, RB
Ted Ginn, WR
Ach why not, Willie Snead, WR (available in nearly all leagues)
Tyler Lockett, WR.
Slightly random names I know, have a look, some of these players are still available on the waiver wire.
Good luck this week, if you want any advice hit us up on Facebook or on twitter.
