Week 3 Best Bets

Week 3 is upon us and the reality check has hit for a few teams. Here are a few bets for this week that could be worth exploring.

Chargers (+2.5) at Colts

I just don’t feel comfortable with the Colts giving points to any team right now. Even with Andrew Luck looking like he is returning to his best the Colts have still struggled. Donte Moncrief will miss the game through injury and that could hurt the offence. All in all, I really like the Chargers here against the spread and on the money line.

The Chargers showed last week that they can still win games without the injured Keenan Allen with a dominant performance against the Jaguars.

In the past eight meetings between these teams the Chargers are 7-1 against the spread and 4-0 in the past four.

Steelers -3.5 at Eagles

I’m not normally a big fan of taking the favourites on the road, but I’m just not sold on the Eagles yet. Carson Wentz has looked good in his first two games but they have been against arguably the league’s worst two teams.

The Steelers on the other hand have shown some of the form that makes them many people’s favourites in the AFC. This is DeAngelo William’s last game as starter before Le’Veon Bell returns from suspension and he should carry his form from the first two games into this week’s game.

If the Steelers defence can stop the Eagles’ rushing attack as they have in their first two games of the season then I think it could be a long day for Philadelphia.

Jaguars +1 vs Baltimore

I had high hopes for the Jaguars coming into the season and despite a week one loss, there were good signs from this young team. Then last week they went out and blew it against the Chargers, getting absolutely destroyed in San Diego. Gus Bradley is already under pressure to get results and I think they can bounce back in what is almost a must win game for them.

The Ravens are 2-0 but like the Eagles, they have faced two of the worst teams in the league so far. They were not exactly convincing in those games either. The Browns got out to a big lead before the Ravens came back last week. Baltimore have struggled on the ground with Justin Forsett and Terrance West both failing to make an impact. This could be the week that kick-starts the Jaguars season.

In the past eight meetings between these teams the home team is 5-2-1 ATS.
